Marookeh Nahikian, founder of Niche Design, started his career designing architectural millwork and office furniture for various furniture manufacturers. While a lead design engineer at Design Craftsmen, Inc., a company that specialized in the recreation of historical spaces and interactive exhibits, Marookeh led multi-million dollar interpretive exhibit projects from interactive to static displays.

In 2007, Marookeh pursued his entrepreneurial spirit and formed Niche Design LLCwith a contract to develop an entire product line for Richard Branson's American start-up airline Virgin America. Besides being a valued design-engineer subcontractor to Design Craftsmen, Niche Design continued designing and fabricating casework for several airlines, airports, sports venues, retail stores, traveling exhibitions and self-service devices nationwide.

For more than 40 years, Design Craftsmen employees have used their imaginative brains, skillful hands and sharp eyes to create museum pieces around the world. After the closing of Design Craftsmen in 2009, some of the Design Craftsmen talent banded together at Niche Design to follow their passion in the interpretive exhibit industry. These strong relationships has blossomed Niche Design into a full service design build fabrication company and has fostered a strong proactive workforce that can achieve both quality and lead time.

Niche Design is now a group of experienced specialists headquartered in Saginaw, Michigan. Our services include design assistance, budgeting, value-engineering, project management, design engineering, detailing, appearance drawings, scenic creative services, EM/AV services, full fabrication services and installation services. Our most valuable resource is its ability to seek out the best of each trade and bring them all together in one coordinated effort.
